Notes
Before your massage
There are a few things you can be mindful about before your massage. For example, being well hydrated before your massage is very important for the elimination of toxins that are released into the body's circulation during treatment. Don’t eat for at least 90 minutes before your session and make sure to communicate if you have particular medical conditions, allergies or needs.
Of course, skip the massage appointment if you feel like you might have a cold or you had recent surgery or a serious injury.
*It is not recommended to get a massage in the first trimester of pregnancy.
*If you have a medical condition or are undergoing treatment, please consult with your doctor before booking a massage.
After your massage
Certain massages, like Deep Tissue can make you feel a bit sore, as if you had a strong workout. Other types of massage will just make you feel relaxed and rejuvenated. No matter what type of massage you choose, best is taking care to get the most possible benefits and that’s why you have to keep in mind staying hydrated and avoid alcoholic, sugary, and caffeinated drinks. Along with water, opt for healthy options such as coconut water, fresh fruit or vegetable juice, or herbal teas.
Following your massage, stretching will help release muscle tension, improve flexibility, and improve circulation. It’s also a great way to tune into your body, alleviate stress, and quiet your mind – so that’s great if you had planned a gentle Yoga session.
Take a hot shower or go to the sauna. As well, there are several herbs that may stimulate muscle relaxation and reduce inflammation. You can take them as a capsule, tincture, or tea or have them in your bathtub.
And most important, take time to rest and recharge. If you can, build in time to rest after your massage. Elevate your feet and legs with pillows and take some time to listen to your favourite music, read a book, or sleep.
